The Piazza

The colourful square in front of the building, and from May onwards the best room we have. Drinks in the late sun, a barbecue, food stations spread across the paving, cars parked up for a reveal — with the whole venue three steps behind you when the evening turns.

GREAT CHOICE IN AMSTERDAM WEST

City outdoor afternoons

The colourful square in front of the building is a real addition to your summer programme. It’s open, paved and in full afternoon sun, with room to spread out. Use it for drinks after the last session, team-building games, a barbecue, a walking dinner or cars parked up for a reveal. And because it sits at the door, it works for morning arrivals as well as evenings.

Consider the courtyard for:

In front of the entrance, open to the sky, and right next to every indoor space in the building.

First impressions

The Piazza is the first thing your guests see, which makes it a great-value place to welcome them with your brand. Trains, metro and trams are at the end of the street, and Schiphol is a ten-minute direct train away.

Coach out front, cars inside

Coach drop-off is on the square itself and the garage sits directly under the building with EV charging points. Reserve the spaces with the booking rather than on the day.

Barbecue & food stations

Suppliers from all over Amsterdam, grills, stations and a bar load out on the pavement, plated by a kitchen a few metres inside. Dietary and cultural requirements are built into the menu from the first conversation.

Bad Weather Solutions

The reason an outdoor event here is a low-risk decision: the indoor plan is the building itself, metres away. No marquee to hire against a forecast, no second venue on hold, no phone call at 3pm deciding the evening.

The Park Inn by Radisson Amsterdam City West is in the same building, not a walk away — 476 four-star rooms with its own bar and restaurant. Delegates go from the last session to their room without stepping outside, which is what makes multi-day congresses work. Rooms are blocked alongside your event, not booked one by one.

FAQ’S ABOUT OUR piazza

Questions & answers

How many guests fit on the Piazza?
It depends entirely on the format, and we would rather give you the right number than a flattering one. Standing drinks, a walking dinner across stations and a seated setup produce three very different figures on the same square. Tell us which of the three you are planning and how many you are bringing, and you get the number in writing before you commit.

You simply move indoors – it’s just a short walk. That is the whole advantage of an outdoor space attached to a venue this size: the ballroom takes 750, the three foyers another 700 between them, and they are metres from the square. No marquee hired against a forecast, no backup venue on hold. We agree the switch point with you in advance so nobody is deciding at 3pm.

Yes — it is what the square is best at. Grills going, a bar out on the paving, and food stations spread so a walking dinner keeps people moving and mixing instead of seated in rows. Our kitchen is inside the building rather than in a tent, so hot food arrives hot and the menu can still change on the morning if the weather does.
Vehicles work well out here — an open square at the entrance means a reveal is the first thing arrivals walk into, and passers-by see it too. Access, weight on the paving and the route in are worked through with your production team before anything is signed. If the launch needs to be indoors instead, the ballroom takes up to eight cars on its floor
Is there power and water out on the square?

Suppliers load in directly at the entrance the square sits on, so grills, bars, staging and games arrive where they will stand rather than across a site. Send us your production schedule and what it needs, and we’ll confirm supply and load-in before you book.

Outdoor sound in Amsterdam runs to agreed hours, and we would rather be straight with you at the enquiry stage than surprise you at eleven. Tell us the shape of the evening you have in mind and we will confirm what is possible outside and where the party moves to afterwards — usually the rooftop or the ballroom, both already in the building.

Exclusive use is agreed per booking, and it is worth raising early rather than assuming. The Piazza sits at the main entrance, so we look at it alongside the rest of the day in the building and confirm in the proposal exactly what is yours and when. Ask the question at enquiry and it is answered before you sign anything.

Every meeting is carbon compensated at no extra cost to you, through our partnership with First Climate. Reduce, reuse, replace, recycle is the working order behind it: single-use plastics on their way out, food waste measured and cut rather than talked about, EV charging in the garage and the building drawing its primary energy from an aquifer thermal energy storage system. Ask for the numbers and you’ll get them.
